Pat’s June Gardening Corner
Below is a list of things that you can be doing in your garden in the month of June:
- Plant bedding plants such as, ageratum, celosia, coleus, marigold, portulaca, purslane, salvia and zinnia.
- Mulch flower and vegetable beds to conserve water, keep beds cool and minimize weeds.
- Fertilize annuals to assure continued bloom.
- Check lawns for grub worms through July.
- Watch for powdery mildew on crape myrtle.
- Cut back reblooming salvias to within a few inches of their spent flower spikes.
- Fertilize your lawn lightly.
- Webworms begin to appear at this time. Tear their web to let predator wasps eliminate the population.
