Proposed Zoning Changes Along Harris Ridge Blvd.

July 10th, 2007 · Around the Neighborhood

You may have noticed the recent bright yellow signs along Harris Ridge Blvd indicating a proposed zoning change.

The owner of this land, Ly & Nguyen LLC, is proposing this land be rezoned from its current Rural Residential status to Commercial use. This land will be used along with the commercial property that fronts Parmer Lane for the future Vina Plaza shopping complex.

You can see on the following map where the proposed zoning change will be:

The following aerial view gives a better view of how this land backs up to several residential properties in both our HOA on Briargate Drive and the neighboring Cassat Cove houses:

Back in the mid-1990’s, the HOA negotiated that this land be a buffer between our homes and any commercial development. This land was zoned “rural” in exchange for allowing the commercial zoning of the land that sits on Parmer Lane.

You Can Make a Difference

This rezoning issue will be brought up for public hearing before the Planning and Zoning Commission, and if approved, to the Austin City Council.

Please let your voice be heard on what you want to happen around your neighborhood.

The formally named Hong Kong Plaza is now called Vina Plaza. It is scheduled to include a Hong Kong Supermarket, six mix-use office and retail buildings joined by a large rotunda, a bank, and restaurants.
