Pool Monitor Volunteers Needed

June 13th, 2008 · Announcements

We’ve had reports of non-residents using our neighborhood swimming pool. This recurring problem is something that all homeowners need to help correct.

If you’d like to be a “pool monitor” this summer, please leave a comment below. Volunteers will be given t-shirts that state who you are so that it will be easier to help enforce our pool rules.

The Board of Directors is working to get wrist bands that homeowners and their guests must wear while visiting the pool. This will help easily identify trespassers that will then be turned over to the police. We are also currently reviewing all our pool procedures and will provide a more detailed plan in the near future.

If you’d like to help keep our pool a safe and secure place, please volunteer to be a pool monitor.

If you don’t want to be a pool monitor, you can still help maintain our pool by not letting in others who don’t have a pool key.

I’m willing to help monitor the pool. I’m available in the evening during the week.

    Annabelle,

Thanks for volunteering. We’re still working on the t-shirts but a member of the board will be contacting you shortly.

I go to the pool quite often with my two children (and other children of the neighborhood) and am willing to help monitor. I am available in the evening during the week and most weekends (but not all). Thanks!!

I did some pool monitoring tonight while I was walking by with my dog. I saw several teenagers horseplaying and had a hunch that they didn’t live here, but didn’t know for sure so I kept walking. As I walked around the front gate, I saw a kid to the right of the entrance kicking out one of the wooden posts up above. He tried to tell me that he lived here, but someone took his key. So, I asked what street he lived on and he had no answer. I told him if he and his friends left now I would be generous and not call the police. I hung around for a few more minutes, walked by again, and saw that they were still there. They got an attitude with me and said that they had a right to be there because their friend lived there and that I had no right to question them. I replied, ok then I’ll let the police question you when I call them. They left.

I walk by at least once, usually twice, a day with my dog. So, it wouldn’t take any time at all for me to be a pool monitor. I’m happy to keep questioning kids with attitude. ;-)

So, that wooden post needs replacing. Maybe we should replace all the posts with metal? I also saw very noticeable foot prints along the concrete wall there. It doesn’t seem very difficult for them to jump that wall.

Yes there is a low point on the wall to the right of the entrance. We are currently taking bids to top the wall with angled barbed wire . Thanks Renee for keeping an eye on the pool. If you see someone vandalizing the pool -Please call the police! 911 I come home at 11pm and do a check at night. The more eyes we have on the pool the better. Also today I have ordered wristbands that we will be using to identify people that belong in the pool and those that don’t. They should be here in 2 weeks.

I visited your site and saw you were using a wristband system and would like to get additional info on those and how you implemented it. I am a board member for an HOA in Allen texas. Please email me so we can discuss. Thank you.
