Pool Wristbands: Get Yours Saturday, July 12th

July 9th, 2008 · Announcements

In an effort to help restrict pool use to only homeowners and their guests, the HOA will be issuing colored wristbands to homeowners that must be worn during visits to the pool.

These silicone wristbands are bright red and yellow and look like the familiar “Live Strong” wristbands. They have “Harris Ridge Owner’s Assoc.” embossed on them.

These brightly colored wristbands will clearly identify homeowners and guests that should be in the pool. This will help pool monitors and the police enforce pool regulations and identify people that are trespassing.

To get wristbands for your household, you must have a pool key and be current on your assessments.

Come to the pool this Saturday, at 10:00am to pick up your wristbands. Bring your pool key.

Thank you for helping to keep our neighborhood pool a safe and fun place!

What can they build North of our neighborhood?

June 19th, 2008 · Around the Neighborhood · Frequently Asked Questions

Stephen asked a great question in the comments of our June call for feedback:

Can the land between Weatherford Dr. and Howard Lane be developed?

Good question. Yes, the land north of Weatherford up to Howard can be developed. What can go on that land depends the city zoning. As we saw with the Vina Plaza development, zoning can be changed at the whims of City Council.

That being said, the City of Austin has an online interactive map where you can see current zoning for our neighborhood or any part of the city.

According to those records, what can be developed depends on which side of Harris Glenn you are looking at.

North of the Enclave

The land north of the Enclave between Harris Glenn and south of Howard is currently zoned MF-2, which according to the City’s website means:

MF-2 Multi-Family Residence - Low Density
Height: 40 feet Minimum Lot: 8,000 sq. ft.
Single Family Dwelling, Duplex, Two Family Dwellings, Townhouses, Apartments up to 23 units per acre

North of Weatherford, West of Harris Glenn

North of Weatherford is a little complicated. This land is a mix of LO (Limited Office) and GR (Community Commercial). Click to see a bigger map:

zone map

The city defines these zones thus:

LO Limited Office
Height: 40 feet Minimum Lot: 5,750 sq. ft.
Office use predominantly serving neighborhood or community needs; such as professional, semiprofessional, medical offices

GR Community Commercial
Height: 60 feet Minimum Lot: 5,750 sq.ft.
Offices or commercial uses serving neighborhoods and community needs, including unified and individually developed shopping centers or commercial sites; such as service stations, restaurants.

Change in Property Management

June 19th, 2008 · Announcements

At the June 10th meeting of the Harris Ridge Board of Directors, a decision was reached to cancel our association management contract with PS Property Management.

Over the past two months, the board of directors have spent many hours in meetings and deliberation about and with new management companies. During the June 10th meeting, a decision was reached to hire Goodwin Management as our future neighborhood association manager.

The new Harris Ridge HOA Finance Committee dedicated and devoted tremendous time and energy into this process and have been an incredible asset to the Board of Directors, and you, the homeowner.

We will be holding a meet-and-greet tentatively in August and will be inviting you to join us in welcoming our new property manager.
